Nabil
It was clear from the day that this boy was born that he wouldn’t care much about conventions. Just think, honestly now, who decides to come on earth December 25, 1974 when there are folks around the world enjoying Christmas Turkey? Nabil is the oldest boy of mixed parentage, a Lebanese father and a Belgian mother. He quickly learned that the taste of rice is as nice as the taste potatoes, and that Overijse, Belgium is not the centre of the universe.
As
a child, musically, he was equally keen to know what the neighbours who lived
three streets away from him had to say. Musical Studies: Beginning at the age of eighteen:
Professionally: Nabil says that he is a creative stuntman. He says that the saying, “That will never work”, doesn’t apply to him. Give him the challenge, and he will make your dreams come true.
* "Björk is a
huge source of inspiration to me. I find it particularly interesting the way
she brings different instruments and ethnical groups together". Apart from Björk, Nabil other musical idols are David Bowie, Frank Zappa, Kate Bush etc. He feels related to them because he believes that he also combines different influences to create his own, unique style. He’s not scared to mix bagpipes with heavy metal guitars and a big beats drum track. Like other artists Nabil likes to let coincidence play a role too. Unexpected noises, mistakes that turn out to sound very well etc., and of course he also likes the creative input of his fellow musicians. Nabil believes that sharing is very important. He also likes the interaction with the public. Being yourself is very important, the people you are playing for like to have some fun. And that’s what Nabil and his musicians are going to bring to you!
Nabil’s first single ‘Jump Into The Crowd’ released on Elyts Records, CD 7401 in June 2006, features three songs on this CD. The first song ‘Jump Into The Crowd’ is about the joy of people being squashed together in a disco while the music is blasting away. ‘She’s Cold’, the second song on the CD, tells the story of an extremely cold, blooded woman, and ‘Keep Your Body In Motion’ is an ode to the laws of Isaac Newton. The video for ‘Jump Into The Crowd’ is expected very soon. e-mail: nabil.khazzaka@pandora.be / http://www.nabilmusic.com
